The one east-coast list with real non-hotel venues
Ayia Napa sits 20 minutes from Protaras and is structurally different. Protaras is almost all resorts. Ayia Napa gives you seven standalone reception venues alongside its beach hotels, so you can sleep in one place and eat in another without importing a venue from the next town.
Hotel, restaurant venue or marina
The standalone set is the reason to look here: The Cupule and Konnos Bay Gardens out on the Cape Greco road, Blueberries and The Garden of Eden towards Nissi, Taverna Napa and OPAS Traditional Tavern in the centre, and Ayia Napa Marina over at Ayia Thekla. The hotels then cover the rooms, from Nissi Beach Resort and NissiBlu to Alion Beach, Olympic Lagoon, Grecian Sands and Asterias Beach at Makronissos.
That split has a cost. The hotels sit in three separate pockets, the harbour and centre, Nissi Avenue, and Makronissos about 5 km out, so a reception at a Cape Greco venue can turn one pickup into three. Group guests by walking distance, not by booking name.
The only east-coast municipality that marries on a Saturday
Agia Napa Municipality runs its own marriage officers and lists ceremonies Monday to Friday 11:00-18:00 and Saturday 11:00-14:00. Larnaka Municipality publishes weekdays only and Limassol adds roughly €130 for a Saturday, so a Saturday legal ceremony is genuinely simpler here.
The municipality also licenses outdoor spots beyond the Town Hall: Cape Greco, the Aoratos juniper tree, Ayios Epifanios, the Thalassa Museum, Ammos, Votsalo at Ziatzi beach and Poseidon by the harbour. Since July 2024 the same municipality also covers Sotira, Liopetri, Avgorou and Achna, so an inland estate in those villages files here too. Fees are the national £110 (€128.15) or £240 (€281.90), plus the venue charge.
The honest drawback
The centre is a nightlife town. Hotels around Dimokratias and the main square sit inside the bar strip, and in July and August that runs late. If you want these beaches without the noise, look at the Cape Greco end or Makronissos. Several resorts also tie a wedding to a minimum stay, so ask before you price anything.
