Troodos is the one Cyprus location where a July or August wedding is genuinely comfortable. Above 1,000m the mountains run roughly 10°C cooler than the coast: peak-summer midday temperatures sit around 24-28°C here against 37°C-plus on the Limassol and Larnaca seafronts. If you want high summer but dread guests wilting in beachfront heat, a mountain wedding in Cyprus is the fix - pine forest, stone villages like Platres and Kakopetria, and vineyard light instead of sand. Best months are June to September, the reverse of the coastal calendar.
This is a small, hand-picked set of Troodos wedding venues - closer to a dozen than the hundreds you would compare in Paphos. Most are exclusive-use estates, mountain hotels and working wineries: Casale Panayiotis at Kalopanayiotis, Apokryfo in Lofou, the Mill Hotel above Kakopetria, and vineyard settings like Oenou Yi and Ktima Gerolemo. Because the villages are compact, couples tend to take over a whole property and put guests on site, which keeps a 60-80 guest wedding contained in one place rather than scattered across resorts.
Two things to plan around. Guests have to drive up - allow 45-75 minutes from the coast or either airport, so a booked shuttle beats 20 hire cars winding up the hairpins. And short afternoon thunder showers do roll over the peaks between June and September, so choose a venue with a genuine covered plan B, not just a marquee promise. The legal side is identical to the rest of the island: the standard civil marriage licence is €128.15 (about £110) through the local municipality, or €281.90 (about £240) for the faster special licence.
