The first thing to settle with a Cyprus caterer is whether you need one at all. Most hotel and estate venues here bundle catering into their package, so an independent wedding caterer earns its place when you've booked a private villa or a raw space that lets you bring your own team. We've checked 33 catering teams for destination weddings, most in the mid (€€) bracket and concentrated around Limassol (14 teams), with more in Larnaca, Paphos and Protaras - useful when your venue leaves the food to you.
Format sets both the mood and the bill. A Cyprus meze - halloumi, souvlaki, grilled fish, a dozen small plates that keep arriving - runs long and relaxed and typically lands at €28-45 a head with a restaurant-style caterer. A buffet sits in the same range; a plated seated dinner pushes to €60-90 a head at a mid-tier venue. Swapping plated for buffet across 80 guests saves roughly £1,400, which is real money against an £8-15k budget.
Two things catch UK couples out. Catering carries 19% VAT that most caterers quote separately, so an advertised €78 wedding menu is really €92.80 a head. And ask early how a team handles dietary requirements, service-staff numbers and keeping food cold through a 30C afternoon - the answer is what separates a genuine wedding caterer from a restaurant that also does parties.
