Protaras is the quiet half of Cyprus's southeast coast. It shares the same beaches as Ayia Napa 20 minutes north - Fig Tree Bay, a Blue Flag crescent of golden sand, and sheltered Konnos Bay below Cape Greco - but the resorts here stay calm after dinner instead of emptying into a strip of clubs. That trade-off is the whole reason UK couples choose a Protaras wedding: same sea, same photos, fewer late-night crowds.

Protaras has no register office of its own, so a legal civil marriage is handled by the Marriage Officer at Paralimni Townhall. Most couples take the express licence (about €282/£240) and marry the next working day; the standard notice (about €128/£110) is cheaper but forces a roughly 15-day wait in Cyprus. Guests fly into Larnaca, about 65km and a 50-minute transfer, around 4.5 hours from most UK airports. Aim for May-June or September-October and hold the ceremony late afternoon - July and August push 32-34°C on open sand.
