Our directory holds more than 100 wedding venues across Cyprus, and they split into five types: cliff-top beach clubs, private villas, restored stone estates, hotel resorts and seafront tavernas. Roughly a third sit in Paphos, with a second cluster on the east coast around Protaras and Ayia Napa; Limassol and inland Nicosia are thinner but tend to price higher. Most land in the mid-range, so an 80-guest reception venue with ceremony and dining space typically runs £3,500-£7,500, while a 5-star Limassol marina venue starts nearer £8,000.
The headline a venue quotes is rarely what you pay. Catering is charged per head (around €35-65 for a meze or seated menu), drinks add €20-45 a head on top, and Cyprus applies 19% VAT to almost everything - roughly €2,850 on a €15,000 wedding. Ask every venue for a written total at your real guest count, including VAT, the catering minimum and any fee for bringing your own photographer, planner or florist. A low ceremony charge often hides a steep per-head minimum.
Wedding hotels are the simplest route: one contract covers ceremony, reception, catering and guest rooms, cutting the suppliers you manage from a dozen to two or three. The trade-off is flexibility, since some resorts restrict outside suppliers or charge to bring them in. Get like-for-like totals from three venues before a single terrace photo decides it for you.
Popular Saturdays in May, June, September and October get reserved 12-18 months out at the best-known venues, and the reception space is usually the first booking a couple makes, since the photographer, caterer and celebrant all get scheduled around it. Shoulder season is worth weighing seriously: September holds onto June's daytime heat (around 30°C) with a warmer sea, and October settles into the mid-20s, and both sit outside the July-August peak when suppliers and flights typically run 15-20% cheaper. A venue that is flexible on a Thursday or Sunday date can also land noticeably below its Saturday rate.
Ask whether your date is exclusive to your wedding or whether the venue runs a second event the same day - a hotel with two function spaces can have another couple's photographs happening on your terrace at golden hour. Ask about the noise curfew too: Cyprus enforces a 22:00 residential noise limit, so a beach or villa venue near housing may need the band or DJ to wind down earlier than a purpose-built wedding venue or licensed hotel would, which changes how long your evening actually runs.
Most UK couples book a Cyprus venue without seeing it in person first. Ask for a live video walkthrough rather than relying on the photo gallery alone - it shows the real sightlines, any neighbouring buildings in shot, and how far the ceremony spot actually is from the bar and toilets. Confirm the date your final guest count and balance payment are due, since Cyprus venues typically lock the total 4-8 weeks out, and ask when your own suppliers can access the space to set up and how long they have to clear it afterwards.
