Start with the date and the drive

Nicosia is the only inland location in this directory, and the one place on the island with no coastline and no airport of its own. That shapes two decisions before you look at a single venue. First, the date: the capital sits on the Mesaoria plain, boxed in by mountains that block the sea breeze, so July and August highs sit around 37°C and heatwaves regularly push past 40°C. Book April-May or October, and plan an evening ceremony rather than a summer afternoon. Second, transfers: guests fly into Larnaca and drive roughly 45 minutes up the A1, the busiest road in Cyprus, so map every hotel-to-venue journey before you reserve beds.

Character over coastline

What Nicosia trades sand for is character and paperwork that is genuinely straightforward. The Venetian-walled old town, design-led city hotels and rural estates out on the plain give a day that looks nothing like a beach resort. The capital's municipality marries foreign couples at the Town Hall: the published civil fee is €128.15 (about £110) for the normal procedure, or €281.90 (about £240) for the faster special licence.
