Apokryfo Hotel

At the edge of Lofou village in the Troodos foothills, Apokryfo is a boutique hotel built from a cluster of old stone houses renovated by architect Vakis Hadjikyriacou and interior designer Diana Hadjikyriacou. The style is very different from a coast hotel reception. It is rural, village-based and intentionally small scale, with accommodation spread across suites, studios and larger houses. The hotel says it can accommodate up to 36 guests, which is important straight away if you expect most of the wedding party to stay together.

The events page is unusually concrete. Apokryfo says it can arrange church and civil weddings and christening parties with the village priest, using the decorated nineteenth-century church and the old Neoclassical School, both within walking distance. For the reception itself, the courtyard around the pool can seat about 80 for lunch or dinner, and when combined with the restaurant interior it can take up to 120 guests. Smaller functions can also be held on the roof top bar with village views and sunset light.

Food is another strong point. Agrino restaurant serves Cypriot local cuisine, with breakfasts built around local delicacies and dinners that the site describes through meze dishes, kleftiko lamb and house-made jams. The restaurant is open daily from 8am to 10pm. For UK couples, that is a useful sign that Apokryfo has its own culinary identity rather than only a room to hire.

The planning questions here are about transfer logistics into Lofou, whether all key spaces are walkable for older guests and how the 36 on-site guest capacity affects your rooming plan. The upper-mid price band feels plausible for a boutique mountain venue with this level of character, but you should ask for exact layouts, wet-weather plans and how music works in a village setting. If you want a hotel-and-beach formula, this is not it. If you want a village wedding with stone architecture and a more local feel, it stands out.
