• Votsalo beach ceremony. On the golden sand with sea views. This carries an additional charge of around 100 euros (about £85).

Reception options

Two reception spaces are named:

• Royal Beach (Royal Garden). The garden setting near the beach.
• Beach House. A chill-out beachfront reception venue on the private beach, seating up to a maximum of 50 people, available from 19:00.

Buffet menus require a minimum of 12 people. If your guest list runs above 50, ask the hotel which combined or alternative spaces they use, since the Beach House cap is firm.

The legal bit

The hotel sells you the setting; the marriage itself is a civil ceremony run by the local municipality.

For this area, civil ceremonies are handled by the Ayia Napa Municipality Wedding Registry Office at 25 Agias Mavris Street. The ceremony is conducted by the Mayor or a Marriage Officer, Monday to Friday 11:00 to 18:00 and Saturday 11:00 to 14:00, and takes about 10 to 15 minutes.

The standard notice period is 15 days. Under the special-licence procedure, the ceremony can take place within 2-3 working days of applying to the Marriage Officer, which is the route most fly-in couples use. Confirm current fees and paperwork with the registry office before you travel.

Best months

May, June, September and early October are the strongest months for an Ayia Napa wedding. You get reliable sun and warm sea without the peak heat.

July and August are almost rain-free but hot, which is a lot for guests in formalwear and for a ceremony on open sand. If you marry in high summer, hold the ceremony in the late afternoon and lean towards the shaded Royal Garden gazebo rather than the open Votsalo sand.

Honest drawbacks

The Dome Beach Hotel is a good-value resort wedding, not a boutique one. Weigh these before booking:

• It shows its age. Some reviews describe the hotel as dated, though clean. It is a large family and couples resort, not a design-led adults-only property.
• Reception capacity is modest. The Beach House caps at 50 people. Larger weddings need to confirm alternative arrangements in writing.
• Prices come through operators. There is no official published rate card, so you must get a written quote from the hotel and check exactly what each line includes.
